Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Levitt received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo before heading south (and experiencing a dramatic climate change) to attend veterinary school at St. George’s University in Grenada. He landed in Columbia during his fourth year of vet school to complete his clinical rotations at the University of Missouri.
Dr. Levitt met his girlfriend Jennifer, who is a veterinarian at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, while in veterinary school in the Caribbean. During their time in Grenada, they adopted a Pothound (Grenadian street dog) named Turbo and an orange tabby named Sir-Meows-A-Lot. When this family of four moved to Missouri, they adopted Nala, a mixed-breed dog from Kansas City (an unplanned surprise for Dr. Levitt during an externship at an animal shelter). This big family loves what Columbia has to offer—good restaurants, great trails and a fantastic community.
Dr. Levitt is passionate about meeting new people and developing a relationship with them and their pets. He loves coming to work at Horton, and says he has already learned a lot from Dr. Hussey and Dr. Harrington. He looks forward to meeting you and your pet!
